Terms of use
Updated October 10, 2026.
The main site, grimgatherings.com, offers free mysteries. No account, subscription or purchase is required. A separate test site may include unfinished features that are not part of the main site's offering.
A fictional game night
Grim Gatherings is entertainment. Mysteries may describe murder, violence, coercion and other mature themes; check a story's content notes and make sure everyone is comfortable before playing. Characters and solutions are fictional. Never act out dangerous scenes or treat game accusations as accusations about real people.
Playing respectfully
Do not impersonate others, harass players or bypass the host's controls. Keep room links within your group. Everyone should be comfortable with the story and free to stop playing.
Stories are maintained by the site owner. Public story creation, submissions, AI assistance and story-file import/export are no longer offered. You retain your rights in any previously submitted original content. Contact the owner about legacy content or records.
Availability & saves
Free mysteries run in the host's browser; keep that device connected and awake. Each participating device needs an internet connection. Your game is saved on the host device after you add a player; there is no online backup. Connections and third-party services can be interrupted, and features may change. Browser storage is not a guarantee against data loss.
Current access
The main site's mystery catalog and guest joining are free. Stories marked as works in progress have unfinished details; read their notes before choosing. Unreleased games, signup and checkout are not offered on the main site.
Older purchases, refunds & test-site accounts
The terms below apply to existing purchases and any use of purchase features on the separate test site, not a new offer on the free main site. Hiding checkout does not cancel existing purchase or refund rights.
Keep account credentials private. Signup and purchases never grant administrator access. Purchased phone rooms use the online service and expire after 24 hours; they are separate from free browser-hosted mysteries.
Purchase & refund terms
The Shadow Societies bundle includes The Lanternfall Covenant and The Black Ledger Society for one payment of $9.99 USD, not a subscription. Both are 3-10-player social-deduction games. One purchasing host creates a room code; guests join free on their own phones without accounts. Each phone receives only that player's private information. Rooms expire after 24 hours and require an active host purchase and an internet connection. Optional pass-and-play on one trusted device remains available. The bundle does not include downloadable kits, a professional host or the free games' five-chapter format. See the shop description before buying.
Sign in to the correct Grim Gatherings account before checkout. Both games unlock there only when the server verifies a completed payment from PayPal. The PayPal email need not match the game account. Return links, pending payments and direct PayPal.Me transfers are not proof of a verified bundle purchase. Guests do not buy separately. Purchases grant game access, never administrator privileges.
Your purchase allows repeat personal, non-commercial play through the website while the service operates, across devices when signed into that account. Do not resell access, share your password, redistribute protected game materials or use the bundle for paid/commercial events without separate written permission. Availability depends on the service, your connection and your browser. Ownership is not a promise of permanent hosting, downloadable source code or an account transfer.
Checkout is hosted by PayPal. Credit/debit card guest checkout may be offered subject to PayPal eligibility and merchant settings; a PayPal account may be requested in some cases. Your card details are not collected by this website. The displayed bundle price and PayPal order total are $9.99 USD; this website does not add a separately calculated tax. The seller uses Missouri DOR LR8408 as its Missouri tax-treatment basis for this browser-only product; that applicant-specific ruling does not determine tax treatment in other jurisdictions. Your issuer may apply its own conversion or other fees.
We offer a full bundle refund on request within 14 days of purchase. Email grimgatherings2026@gmail.com; include your purchase reference, never a password or card details. We will review later access-failure or duplicate-charge reports as well. Refunds are returned through PayPal to the original payment method; processing time depends on PayPal and your provider. Refunding either game means refunding the whole bundle and removing its access. Partial refunds, reversals or payment disputes also suspend access from that payment pending support review. Your statutory consumer rights are not restricted by this policy.
By confirming purchase terms you request immediate digital access. This does not waive the stated refund policy or statutory rights. If charged but games did not unlock, choose Check payment in the account's purchase history before paying again. Sandbox orders use test funds only and never confer live access.
